Oak Knoll’s individualized environment really allowed for me to grow in the classroom. The class sizes allowed for me to be able to voice my opinions in group discussions and have the confidence to raise my hand in class while also being okay with not always getting the answer right. Another pro of the individualized environment is that I was able to form a connection with many teachers — those who have helped me through school and supported me along the way. They emphasized the importance of going to see them if I need help on a specific topic and that they want nothing but for me to succeed. I will forever value that one-on-one connection I was able to have with my teachers.
I played softball and ran track during my high school career, and I have truly loved both experiences. I had never stepped foot on a track before (and saying I loved running would be far from the truth), but the relationships I formed with peers I would not otherwise have talked to, as well as upperclassmen and coaches, made it all worthwhile. Oak Knoll softball was one of the best teams I have ever played on. I met my best friend through softball, and got to connect with underclassmen and upperclassmen that I adored seeing daily in the spring. I had so much fun on and off the field, learned so much, and grew as a person in all aspects of my life.
Oak Knoll students are always eager to learn and increase their knowledge about the wider world. With such an admirable work ethic, everyone works hard and uplifts each other while doing so. Class discussions are insightful, and we bring our thoughts and opinions to the table with intelligence and wisdom. I have felt a sense of community with my grade since summer orientation before my first year. I met a few girls there, and I am still friends with them to this day. I really feel like the friendships I have made here are long lasting, and they won’t just end after graduation is over. The girls are supportive, kind, and smart, and seeing these people everyday makes school an even happier place. The people really do make the place, and that is evident at Oak Knoll.
All of these reasons and more are why I chose Oak Knoll and how its assets have helped me in the classroom, on the field, and prepared me for the future.
