With apple picking, Halloween candy and blowup decorations on your neighbor’s lawn in mind, we wanted to provide you with a list of our favorite events in the Summit, New Jersey area this fall. Halloween Haunted House Decorating Workshop – October 22, 2017
Bring your spooky chef and get creative decorating your very own Haunted House with candy and icing in this Halloween workshop. Pre-registration is required two days before. All children must be accompanied by a parent. Sponsored by the Summit Area YMCA
Summit Farmers Market Pumpkin Painting – October 29, 2017
Children of all ages are invited to embrace their inner artist and paint a pumpkin at the Summit Farmers Market! For one day only, small pumpkins will be on sale for $3 at the painting booth, but you can purchase your squash to paint from any of the farmers selling them. Painting supplies will be provided. Trick-or-Treat Downtown – October 31, 2017
Children are invited to don their costumes and venture into downtown Summit after school on Tuesday, October 31. Downtown businesses displaying a Trick-or-Treat poster in their window will be waiting to hand out treats! Sponsored by Summit Downtown

Lacrosse Skills 'n' Drills – November 5, 2017
Boys and girls in kindergarten through sixth grade are invited to a free instructional Lacrosse Skills 'n' Drills clinic run by Oak Knoll School's state championship girls' lacrosse head coach, Rachel Lasda. Enjoy a day of learning the game and working on skills with a fun and experienced coaching staff! Summit Farmers Market Pumpkin/Sweet Potato Pie Contest – November 12, 2017
Amateur bakers are invited to bring their best pumpkin or sweet potato pie to the Summit Farmers Market by 10:45 a.m. on November 12. Judging begins at 11 a.m. Pies will be judged on their crust, filling and appearance. After the pies are judged, the public will be able to sample them! Pies must be made from scratch; no premade crusts allowed. All types of pumpkin and sweet potato pies are allowed: pumpkin custard, pumpkin pecan, etc. Entrants must bring a copy of their recipe to the contest with them.
