Melissa Miller

Melissa Miller joined Oak Knoll School this summer as Director of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Justice. She most recently served as the Assistant Director of Admissions at Newark Academy where she also an Equity and Inclusion Team Advisor and Associate Director of Donor Relations and Special Events. Miller is a founding member of Level, a multiracial network of women taking action for racial equity, and a consultant and facilitator for Hyphens and Spaces, a DEI company for organizations dedicated to furthering social causes. She also served as a leadership coach at Braven’s Rutgers University site, empowering college students from underrepresented backgrounds on their path to college graduation and strong first jobs.  In her spare, when she is not running after her two little ones, Melissa enjoys cooking, reading, and listening to podcasts.

National Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated annually from September 15 to October 15 and affords Americans the opportunity to recognize the long and rich history, achievements, and contributions of Hispanics and Latino/as in the United States. Hispanic Heritage Month uniquely starts in the middle of the month to recognize the anniversary of when five Latin American countries, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua, earned their independence from Spain on September 15, 1821. Mexico and Chile became independent on September 16 and 18 from Spain.
